Ultimate Japan Travel!

Holidays to Japan can be packed with adventure, whether you’re after something pulse-lifting and active or something gentler that nevertheless has genuine wow factor. Take to the slopes in Hokkaido in search of some of the world’s best off-piste powder, or dive among enormous manta rays in the waters around Ishigaki in Okinawa. Learn the ways of a ninja or samurai in a workshop led by experts; join a master craftsman to make authentic Japanese ceramics; take part in a traditional tea ceremony led by a genuine geisha. If you yearn for something spiritual, you can even stay with monks in a monastery or go trekking with a living Buddha. There really is an adventure for every type of visitor to Japan, from solo travellers to families. We’ve pulled together a list of the most colourful adventures, together with the companies that can arrange them for you, whether standalone or as part of a broader tour.

1. Live a monk’s life, Koyasan

Get a taste of the monastic way of life with a night’s stay in Mount Koya temple, an ancient working monastery in Koyasan, the region at the heart of Buddhism in Japan. Founded in the ninth century, the temple sits 800m up a mountain, and can be reached by train on what is surely one of the country’s most breathtaking rail trips.

2. Chase some off-piste powder, Hokkaido

If you’re after wintry thrills and spills, take a ten-day road trip with an expert guide to ski some of the world’s best powder. You’ll be based in the traditional towns of Furano and Otaru, and in between slope runs you can unwind in hot springs and experience the local culture.

3. Steam your way cross-country

This is a bucket-list trip for train aficionados. Japan has 12 operating steam locomotives, which provide rail lovers the chance of heart-thumping rides through some striking mountain landscapes.

4. Go in search of Japan’s winter wildlife, Hokkaido

Wrap up warm and join a small group trip to the northern island of Hokkaido when the rivers are frozen and snow covers the ground. There you can enjoy the spectacle of the elegant Japanese crane, before exploring the coastline’s inlets, bays and traditional villages to find seabirds such as the Steller’s sea eagle, drawn here by the cold waters of the Sea of Okhotsk.

Incredible Switzerland!

You might be visiting for the first time and heading to ski in the towering Alps. Or perhaps you’re returning to tour the best Christmas markets in the region. Whether you’re an outdoor enthusiast, a food lover, or simply in search of the most awe-inspiring views, you’ll find it here.

Starting off my list are must-see Switzerland attractions for first-time visitors. These are places and activities that will guarantee an unforgettable travel experience!

1. Explore the Swiss Alps

Visiting the Swiss Alps should be on every nature lover’s Switzerland bucket list. The winter is the busiest season when world-class slopes and resorts come alive! For a more tranquil experience go snowshoeing or cross-country skiing in the serene winter wonderland.

2. Visit the Matterhorn

The Matterhorn isn’t just a mountain. It represents the spirit of the Swiss Alps and holds a special place in the hearts of locals and visitors alike. Visiting the Matterhorn is undeniably one of the best things to do in Switzerland.

3. Take a Swiss Train Journey

Switzerland is famous for its efficient and extensive train network. But it’s also a great way to enjoy the country’s breathtaking and diverse landscape! Not only will you get from one destination to another, but a Swiss train journey is its own experience.

4. Go Paragliding

If you are thinking about going paragliding at all and are planning a trip to Switzerland, NOW is the time to do it. Switzerland has some of the most incredible paragliding in the world due to the elevation of its mountains.

Best Things In Dubai!

Dubai is one of those cities that’s so much more than meets the eye. Beyond the glossy building exteriors, there’s a wealth of award-winning restaurants, cultural hubs and incredible souks that you have to see. Honestly, there’s just so many of the best things to do in Dubai that are dotted all across the city.

1.) See the historic fishing town of Al Bastakiya

Before Dubai was, well… Dubai, the area was scattered with small fishing villages that dotted the shoreline. I’m all for the glossiness of Dubai but I equally love to see some of the older parts of the city.

Take a moment from the towering city and head over to the Bastakiya Quarter, which has stood the test of time (even if this mega-metropolis of a city has grown around it).

2.) Spend a night in the desert

If you’re anything like me you’ll be itching to explore outside of a city after a few days of city life. One of the things that struck me with Dubai is that it’s quite unique, once you leave the fringe of the city skyscrapers you realise pretty fast that you’re smack-bang in the gorgeous desert landscapes of the UAE.

3.) Watch the sunrise over the city

Arguably one of the best ways to see the sunrise is via the age-old craft of hobby of air ballooning.

To be honest, I was a little nervous at the thought of hot-air ballooning due to the height but it’s one of the best experiences I’ve ever had, especially at sunrise. It’s well worth waking up early for.

4.) Indulge on brunch

Speaking about brunch, Dubai is quickly earning itself a reputation for world-class food, dishes and award-winning restaurants.

I’ve started a pretty epic love affair with brunch lately, especially as it allows me a little longer in bed… and you’re not judged for eating cake for breakfast! Ha!

Head over to Bubbalicious for a hearty spot of brunch that will fill the hungriest of tummies!

Most guests at our resort find very little need to visit any of the other beaches in Cancun, but for the more adventurous and curious, here is a list of the best beaches in Cancun for you to visit during your vacation at Garza Blanca Cancun:

Playa Forum : This Beach Induces a State of Serenity

The famous Punta Cancun area which can be found just behind Coco Bongo, an infamous nightclub, Playa Forum is one of the most popular public beaches in Cancun. You can spend a day at the Mandala Beach Club if you’re feeling upmarket, or have a casual day on the sand.

Langtang Valley treks!

Top trekking routes in the Langtang region

The Langtang Valley is a good choice for those with limited time, with the shortest routes taking just a week (or even slightly less) including travel time from Kathmandu. There are also many ways of combining treks to create routes lasting several weeks.

Langtang Valley Trek

The standard route follows the Langtang river up a steep and narrow valley. On day two the trail passes over the rubble fields under which Langtang village is buried and on day three the valley opens out to arrive at Kanjin Gompa and big views of Langtang Lirung (7,246m), Langtang II (6,581m) and, perhaps the most distinctive mountain in the valley, the pyramid shaped Mt Gangchempo (6,387m). Kanjin Gompa can be a base for many different day and overnight side trips.

Most people go back the way they came but with more time it’s possible to link up with the Gosainkund and Helambu treks.

Helambu trek

The closest trek to Kathmandu — it starts from the northern outskirts of the city — takes you on a fairly gentle amble through terraced fields, wild forests, flower meadows and through lots of little villages with views of the mountains. The highest point reached on this trek is 3,640m, so it can be done as a mid-winter trek when higher routes might be snowed in. You can make an enjoyable week-long circuit (a good option for those with little time and/or trekking experience), but most people choose to use Helambu either as a walk in or out route to Gosainkund and the Langtang Valley.

Seoul Travel Adventures!

Winter magic and Seoul travel adventures never end! When the city is snow-capped and prices – as well as crowds – are at all-time lows, it’s time to team up with Agoda and plan a winning holiday!

1. EAT, EAT, EAT AND EAT!

Whether you like to eat it with your hands, on a stick or in a bowl, Korean food is designed to warm you up from the inside out. Experts agree that any of these street food staples are stick-to-your-ribs satisfying and completely “Seoul-warming.” Judge for yourself at Tongin Market or Gwangjang Market, where the competition never ends.

2. SKINNY DIPPING AT A JJIMJILBANG

All athletes need time to recoup, and visiting one of Seoul’s jjimjilbangs is considered a team event. With sleeping facilities, wide-screen TVs and exercise rooms, Korea’s steaming hot public baths and saunas are the perfect place to rekindle your fire. If you’re not much of a team player, go on a weekday because families fill up these hot spots every weekend.

3. GET ON YOUR FEET

Pull up your long socks and generate your own heat during a winter walking expedition through the city. Whether you participate as a speed-walker or a chilled-out spectator, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a finish line at any of Seoul’s most popular venues.

4. HIT THE HILLS AND ICE-SKATING RINKS

Ice-skating is both an indoor and outdoor sport in South Korea, and rinks fill up fast during winter months. Likewise, with dozens of freshly-packed, snow-covered hills to conquer, sledding is a national winter pastime as well!
